When the U.S. toppled Saddam Hussein’s barbaric regime, which was responsible for murdering thousands of their own people and that of neighboring countries, there was widespread and joyous celebration in the streets of Iraq. The Iraqi people, more than our media or any foreign body, knew the depths of his treachery and tyranny. Sadly, despite the fact “We the People” spent billions restoring their government, ensuring free elections for the first time in years and repairing their damaged infrastructure (which was shoddy at best to begin with), liberals religiously held protests across America demonizing our involvement and fostering blatant misconceptions. Rabid activists were so blinded by the lack of WMD’s in Iraq – which were used on the Kurds, eventually found and even verified by the New York Times – they completely ignored the human toll and suffering of the Iraqi people. Therefore, like Valerie Jarrett passing out the Koran in an Independence Day parade, those mass demonstrations of outrage magically vanished after the election of Barack Obama; who, by the way, merely followed the exact, same timetable for withdrawal as outlined by one George Bush. So much for principles.
Contrary to the Anti-American forces of political correctness, American Sniper does not portray the mass killing of innocent Iraqis; rather it depicts the incessant battle against radical insurgents who desired nothing more than to keep Iraq under the iron boot of Islamic extremism. If we were truly cold-hearted usurpers with no regard for their people, our troops would have abandoned Iraq long ago and left it to rot in infamy. Instead, these brave men and women remained for 8 torturous years and repeatedly put their lives at risk – selfless heroes like Chris Kyle – because it was pointless to allow Iraq to fall back into the hands of another radical faction and watch yet another humanitarian disaster ensue. And guess what? That’s exactly what has happened! The rise of the Islamic caliphate, under the bloodthirsty banner of ISIS, has terrorized the region with a level of inhumanity reminiscent of the Holocaust. Oddly enough, not one protest has been held here in America to bring attention to the mass atrocities being committed in Iraq and Syria: not by liberals, not by American Muslims, not anyone! Why? Are they not human beings? Would leftists sit idly by as their children were beheaded or mutilated for the smallest infractions…let alone for a religious one? I’ll tell you why; because it’s only a travesty if America is involved!
If anti-war protestors and Muslim conspirators want to degrade America over a movie by reducing the Iraq War to rogue, murderous campaign for oil, then they are completely ignorant of the sacrifices this nation made to help a region and a people that have historically hated Western Civilization. Personally, I was all for removing the human scourge known as Saddam Hussein – it was a no-brainer. The man had no regard for life, human rights, and he was sponsoring/training terrorists. However, after his removal, the United Nations should have stepped in and oversaw the transfer of power, as well as the lengthy reconstruction, thus allowing the world to view these efforts as an international collaboration rather than an American military campaign. Unfortunately the U.N. was far more concerned with spiting America than fulfilling their intrinsic duty and global obligation to make the world a better place; a community where truth and respect trumps petty politics. In other words, they pouted like a petulant child and our Armed Forces did the one thing they swore an oath to protect: to risk life and limb in the name of liberty. And for that, not I, you, or any of the countless heroes like Chris Kyle have anything to apologize for!
