According to the official autopsy findings, Freddie Gray’s death was the result of incidental trauma caused by the rapid deceleration of a police van, and not the assumed result of homicide. So basically the countless hours and resources dedicated to stoking public hysteria, the destructive litany of rioting and looting of private property, the endless rhetoric spewed by professional activists – including the likes of the city prosecutor, Barack Obama, the Black Panthers, Al Sharpton and the DOJ – was all based on a false narrative, a media driven myth, a lie. And how many businesses were destroyed, lives ruined, and people unnecessarily put in harm’s way by orchestrated unrest enveloping both Baltimore and Ferguson?
Does police brutality exist? Of course it does. And all cases should be treated with the utmost concern and diligence. But there are far more cops dedicated to serving their communities with honor and dignity by doing their jobs the right way, than those abusive agents who have zero regard for people’s safety or the rule of law. Perhaps the next time a suspected incident of excessive force garners national attention, grown men and women will consciously choose to act like adults by waiting for the facts to be divulged, due process completed, before recklessly stoking the fires of racial animosity for political gain and prime time fame.
If a lot more of our youth complied with the simple instructions of law enforcement and actually put their “hands up” to fight in a court of law, a lot more “statistics” would be alive today to tell their side of the story; and God willing there would be no other story to tell than that of a routine traffic stop, ticket or arrest. Yes, all lives innately matter but so does the truth. Our men and women in uniform – those who put their lives at risk daily only to be the never ending objects of ridicule and societal scorn – have earned the right to receive the benefit of the doubt until a thorough investigation is completed, in lieu of giving absolute credence to a man arrested over 20 times for drug possession, distribution, and burglary. Or do those leaders and media pundits so blinded by their own bias and disdain even care anymore?
