You’ve probably heard of Whataburger, so welcome to ‘A Big Nothin’ burger where nothing is edible but costs twice as much to throw away! Despite all the political vitriol and senseless hyperbole surrounding his testimony, the Comey hearing basically confirmed what we already knew…
Trump never obstructed justice and the President was never under investigation by the federal intelligence community…for anything. In other words, this entire fiasco was designed to convict by fabricating the appearance of scandal through mere supposition alone; a vindictive media circus born from sheer political malice.
What we did learn, however, is that James Comey is a partisan snake who purposely tried to smear Trump by leaking classified documents to the New York Times through a longtime colleague and law professor. I find it ironic he made notes regarding his conversation with Trump because he assumed the President was “lying” to gain false favor, only to give the most infamous and pathological liar in American history a free pass: Hillary Rodham Clinton.
And yet it was the former FBI Director himself who acted more out of “loyalty” to the Clintons and his former employer, the Obama administration, than doing his sworn duty of investigating and stopping real impropriety. You admitted former AG Loretta Lynch pressured you to exonerate Hillary before the election, to obstruct justice, yet no memo was leaked to the media or a nationally televised tribunal called by outraged Democrats. Why? Did your ideals ask for a recess or is Donald Trump much more worthy of contempt because your hypocrisy is now a prerequisite of his guilt?
For the record, James, “loyalty” is not asking a federal official to circumvent the law to achieve an unscrupulous end for personal gain. It’s a common sense affirmation that you can trust a colleague, personally and professionally, so that you both understand what you’re attempting to achieve; i.e., to faithfully uphold the Constitution and restore the rule of law without prejudice. If demanding loyalty is now a criminal endeavor, nearly ever American President would have been impeached and practically every successful CEO fired for hurting their subordinates’ feelings. The next time a prestigious public servant is distraught over an election result or feels unsafe due to their boss’ direct demeanor, I would prefer they buy a Binky instead of wasting the people’s time and brain cells with another Congressional hearing simply because they were fired for not doing their job.
