“Playing the national anthem before a game is “interjecting” politics into sports.” ESPN Max Kellerman
How can the flag and national anthem be labeled “political” interference when they represent the liberties that allow grown men to play a boys game for millions of dollars? And for the record I love sports. Having an appreciation for the opportunities America affords, the sacrifices made by those before us and now, doesn’t require a political affiliation. It merely requires an ounce of respect and the slightest hint of perspective. I never hated Colin Kaepernick because he chose to express himself. I merely hated the disrespectful manner of political grandstanding he chose. If the man simply spoke his mind before or after the game, pursued social change outside the lines, he’d still have a job today. No sane team owner is going to support a product that insults its fans and drives away good paying customers. People don’t watch sports to be lectured or their country ridiculed; they do it for the love of the game and to enjoy what little free time they may have with family and friends. To that end, God Bless America.
